"The thinking fan's soccer management game" - PC Format Magazine
|
| There are currently four programs in the SaaP suite of programs - a club management game, an international management game (these can be played separately or together), an expandable club database edit program and an international database edit program. The last two feed both the management games and act as a reference source for real-world players and clubs (SaaP Online members can submit their own information for accuracy or modify the databases to suit themselves and create their own reference source with a shortcut on their desktop). Two further programs are in development. The first uses the match simulation to allow one-off or home-and-away ties between any teams in the databases or gamer-defined teams. This match program uses very much the same match simulation as used in the management games. A second program will allow the user to define his own club starting squad and/or create a totally fictional database. In whatever form SaaP is purchased then all four, and later five and six, programs are included in the package at the stated price. SaaP and SaaP Online have been designed as one. The programs are regularly upgraded and expanded and distributed to SaaP Online subscribers over a members' web site. There's usually a new release with significant changes every one to two months. Mostly the games can be upgraded without disturbing a users current career but occasionally changes require a new game start to take advantage of the developments. However, there's nothing to stop multiple installations on your PC if you wish to run a current game and install the latest game in a separate folder. Two (three, four, five whatever....) games can be played without any interference between them. The games themselves give you a totally new experience and one I think is much closer to that of the real-world manager than is usual. Besides the usual leagues, clubs, nations, players and trading, it tackles the difficult stuff of man-management, player motivation, skills development, training, tactics, match preparation, opposition manager AI etc. They challenge your judgement and give you a considerable control over the performance of your team and players. Because the games demand more of your understanding of the game they generate a higher level of satisfaction when you bring home the trophies and your club or nation comes out on top.
SaaP Online
The SaaP Online system takes advantage of the benefits of Internet distribution with it's low cost, direct, immediate, world-wide and
interactive qualities. Thus a one-off download (including all programs) is only $A30 (currently about $US22) and can be played within 15
minutes of reading this by anyone, anywhere, that has an Internet connection and a credit card or PayPal account. Alternatively, with the
game being developed continuously, you can have the SaaP Online subscription with the games, edit programs and 12 months of
upgrades, updates and expansions for $A40.00 (approx $US35). I aim for around seven or eight upgrades a year. Bug fixes are usually
uploaded to a members' page within hours of being fixed and members emailed with details or informed on the SaaP Online forum. This
has led to the SaaP programs being the most stable and bug-free programs around.

the subject of the page.

of the most recent developments in the game. The list is used purely for supplying you with the monthly newsletters and you can
